Working Towards Greater Sense of Safety: Restorative Justice in Education as a Solution to Donn Short’s Recommendation of Reframing Safety in Terms of Equity and Inclusivity for LGBTQ Teens in Schools

In educational contexts where LGBTQ students still face numerous threats to their safety, Am I Safe Here? LGBTQ Teens and Bullying in Schools by Donn Short provides findings that expand our collective understanding of the experiences of oppression and marginalization faced by LGBTQ teens in Toronto schools. In response to Short’s call to action to reframe safety in an equitable and inclusive manner, the present article will provide an in-depth examination of the three pillars of restorative justice in education. In so doing, the author wishes to encourage researchers to explore a novel approach for working towards greater safety for LGBTQ teens in schools.
