Résumé

The Understanding Evolution website (http://evolution.berkeley.edu/) was developed to provide a freely accessible resource that promotes the teaching of evolution and improved understandings of evolution among students and the general public. Evaluations show that the strategies employed in site design have allowed it to effectively meet those goals, while maintaining a practical and scientific perspective on this topic and remaining disentangled from the “controversy᾿ related to evolution in the public sphere. DÉVELOPPER UNE COMPRÉHENSION DE L’ÉVOLUTION : UNE RESSOURCE EN LIGNE POUR L’ENSEIGNEMENT ET L’APPRENTISSAGE Le site Web Understanding Evolution (http://evolution.berkeley.edu/) a été créé dans le but d’offrir une ressource accessible et gratuite qui fait la promotion de l’enseignement de l’évolution et tente de mieux faire comprendre celle-ci auprès des étudiants et du public en général. Des évaluations indiquent que les stratégies employées dans la conception du site ont permis d’atteindre efficacement ces objectifs, tout en maintenant une perspective pratique et scientifique sur ce sujet et en se tenant loin de la « controverse » liée à l’évolution au sein de la population.

Judy Scotchmoor is Assistant Director at the UC Museum of Paleontology, in charge of Education and Public Programs. She is the Project Coordinator for the Understanding Evolution project, as well as the Paleontology Portal and the Understanding Science website now under development. She is very interested in how to best communicate science to multiple audiences. JUDY SCOTCHMOOR est directrice adjointe du UC Museum of Paleontology, où elle est responsable de l’enseignement et des programmes destinés au public. Elle est coordonnatrice de projets dans le cadre du projet sur la compréhension de l’évolution (Understanding Evolution), du portail sur la paléontologie et du site Web appelé Understanding Science, en cours d’élaboration. Elle s’intéresse à la meilleure façon de communiquer les sciences à de multiples publics.

Anastasia Thanukos, University of California, Berkeley - Museum of Paleontology

Anastasia Thanukos is the Principal Editor at the UC Museum of Paleontology. A former community college professor, she now develops science content for UCMP’s outreach and education web projects. Anna holds a masters in Integrative Biology and a Ph.D. in Science and Math Education from UC Berkeley, with interests in evolutionary genetics, phylogenetics, and science communication. Anastasia Thanukos est directrice de la rédaction du UC Museum of Paleontology. Anciennement professeure au collège communautaire, elle élabore maintenant le contenu scientifique de projets du site Web de vulgarisation et d’enseignement du UCMP. Elle détient une maîtrise en biologie intégrative et un doctorat en enseignement des sciences et des mathématiques de la University of California, à Berkeley, et ses intérêts sont axés sur la génétique évolutionniste, la phylogénétique et la communication scientifique.
