Cet article porte sur l’expérience scolaire de jeunes ayant un trouble développemental du langage (TDL). Les entretiens effectués auprès des ado- lescents et de leurs parents ont été analysés selon une démarche qualitative d’analyse thématique. Les résultats révèlent que malgré les quelques expériences d’affiliation significatives, les jeunes vivent de nombreuses situations témoignant d’une fragilisation de leurs liens à l’école et aux autres et d’une intériorisation des attentes et normes véhiculées dans le milieu scolaire. Rapportés par les par- ticipants, différents facteurs environnementaux de nature organisationnelle et pédagogique semblent jouer un rôle important dans la construction des écueils relatifs à la sphère sociale. En ce sens, les résultats offrent un point de vue dif- férent sur les difficultés scolaires et sociales de ces jeunes.
THE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF YOUTH WITH A LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT DISORDER AND THEIR PARENTS: THE INFLUENCE OF SCHOOL ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS ON THE WEAKENING OF TIES WITH OTHERS AND THE SCHOOL
This article focuses on the school experience of youth with a language development disorder. Interviews conducted with adolescents and their parents were analyzed following a qualitative thematic analysis approach. Results reveal that, notwithstanding a few meaningful experiences of affiliation, the youth experienced numerous situations that point toward a weakening of their ties with the school and with others as well as an internalization of expectations and norms conveyed by the school setting. As reported by the participants, different organisational and pedagogical factors seem to play an important role in the construction of pitfalls related to the social sphere. In this sense, the results of- fer a different point of view on these youths’ pedagogical and social difficulties.
