Abstract

A great amount of literature has appeared in recent years, and no doubt will continue to be published in the years to come, on the problems of educating the poor. What is missing to a large extent from the plentitude of printed matter on the poverty problem in education is an awareness of the historical dimension and of the experience of various nations, other than one's own, in meeting the issue.
