RESUMÉ. Cet article fait état des résultats d’une étude sur le processus de transition professionnelle vers l’enseignement à l’élémentaire vécu par des étudiants de la faculté d’éducation de l’Université d’Ottawa. Le traitement qualitatif des données a mis au jour les conceptions des participants quant à la complexité de l’enseignement, aux doutes à propos de soi, au besoin de soutien pressenti et aux perceptions du soi personnel et professionnel en regard de la nouvelle carrière.
PROFESSIONAL TRANSITION TO TEACHING: IDEAS AND PERSPECTIVES OF ONESELF
ABSTRACT. This article presents the results of a study on the process of professional transition to teaching in elementary school as experienced by students in the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Education. The qualitative analysis of data brought to light participants’ ideas regarding the complexity of teaching, self-doubt, the need for support, and the perceptions of one’s personal and professional self with regard to the new career.
