Narrative review of agency among higher education actors in innovation contexts
Keywords:
agency, collective agency, innovation, higher education, narrative reviewAbstract
Transformations in educational organizations require the continuous adaptation of practices. In this context, agency, understood as the capacity to act on and transform environments, plays a key role in organizational development and innovation. Despite the abundance of research on agency in education, few studies have examined its relationship with organizational improvement in higher education and the role of the various actors involved. A narrative review conducted in fall 2022 identified 46 articles addressing innovation contexts in higher education in which agency was documented. The analysis highlighted five themes related to the outcomes of agency and led to the formulation of avenues and recommendations to support its development in higher education.
