FROM PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY TO LIVING TOGETHER : AN ACTION-RESEARCH ON PUNISHMENT IN SCHOOLS
This article presents an action-research on punishment, which took place in two Professional BAC classrooms in a school of environment from the Chamber of Commerce of Paris. An historical perspective frames the research question to render explicit the theoretical underpinnings guiding the research and our suggested solutions: to collectively re-think the “living together” rules instead of reforming the punishment system. We then describe the co-construction and evaluation of a research-action method based on the active participation of students, teachers, and researchers, and with the objective of reformulating certain parts of school regulation.
