Abstract

Comme pour les autres éléments de la société québécoise, l'enseignement supérieur a subi, au cours de la décennie allant de 1960 à 1970, des transformations profondes correspondant a une véritable mutation. En effet, depuis ses débuts, l'enseignement supérieur constituait une préoccupation marginale de la société québécoise, mesurée par exemple en termes de scolarisation ou de financement public.

GERMAIN GAUTHIER has had a distinguished career in universities, was the Director General of the Higher Education branch of the Quebec Department of Education, is presently President of the Conseil des Universités.
