Cette recherche vise à retracer les sentiments et les référents identitaires présents dans les définitions d’identité culturelle rédigées par des étudiants francophones inscrits dans le programme de formation à l’enseignement de la Faculté d’éducation de l’Université d’Ottawa. Le cadre conceptuel esquisse le parcours du singulier au pluriel de l’identité culturelle tout en faisant référence au phénomènede la mondialisation. L’analyse des définitions permet de remarquer que pour développer un sentiment d’appartenance comme une résultante de la construction de l’identité culturelle, il faut que la personne vive des occasions qui lui permettent de s’identifier à la culture et au groupe. Il est aussi d’autant plus important de traiter de la question de l’identité culturelle à la formation à l’enseignement que l’école de langue française de l’Ontario joue un rôle particulier d’animation culturelle et que tôt ou tard l’enseignant a, dans l’exercice de sa profession, à transiger avec plusieurs cultures et à aider l’élève dans sa quête d’identité quelle qu’elle soit. ABSTRACT. This study explores the identificatorv feelings and referents contained in the cultural identity definitions written by students in the teacher training program of the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa. The conceptual framework outlines the path from singular to plural as regards cultural identity, while making reference to the phenomenon of globalization. Analyses of the definitions reveals that to develop a sense of belonging consequent to building a cultural identity, it also seems essential for the individual to experience opportunities to identify with the culture and the group. It is particularly important to address the cultural identity issue as part of teacher training because French language schools in Ontario play a special role of cultural animation and teachers sooner or later must deal with many cultures and help students in their search for identity, whatever it may be.}, number={003}, journal={McGill Journal of Education / Revue des sciences de l’éducation de McGill}, author={Théberge, Mariette}, year={1998}, month={Sep.} }
